After years of calls for greater inclusivity, AirAsia has officially allowed its cabin crew to wear the hijab, a long-awaited move marking a significant shift in the airline\u2019s uniform policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirAsia female cabin crew can now opt to wear the hijab while on duty<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The change, celebrated by many Muslim staff and passengers alike, also marks a breakthrough moment hailed as a victory for identity, dignity, and representation in the skies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an official statement<\/a>  (5 December), AirAsia said the change is in line with the organisation\u2019s people-first culture and continuous evolution shaped by employee and public feedback.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur uniforms have always reflected professionalism, safety and comfort, and this evolution builds on that foundation by giving our people the confidence to represent AirAsia in ways that align with their beliefs,\u201d said Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

For many Muslim flight attendants, it\u2019s not just a uniform change, but the opening of a new chapter where they can soar with confidence while staying true to their faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirAsia\u2019s iconic red uniform remains unchanged<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AirAsia cabin crew have previously worn the hijab on certain routes, such as Jeddah, where local rules mandate it. While the cabin crew members are free to wear Hijab if they wish to, the iconic red cabin crew uniform will remain unchanged, with the professionally tailored hijab and pants option extending the same design currently worn by crew operating on Jeddah routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the new policy, this option is now open to all female crew members who wish to do so, creating uniformity across the airline\u2019s operations while maintaining AirAsia\u2019s polished and recognisable brand image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Allstars are one of AirAsia\u2019s greatest strengths<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tony Fernandes, CEO of parent company Capital A, added that it was important for the management to listen to the matter when it was raised by the outspoken and diverse cabin crew members, which the company dubbed \u201cAllstars\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
