In the spirit of Ramadan and community togetherness, PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad (PNBMV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) held its third annual ‘Bubur Lambuk Bersama Komuniti di Merdeka 118’, at Stadium Merdeka with over 80 colleagues from both PNB and PNBMV volunteered alongside the surrounding public housing communities coming together to prepare and distribute bubur lambuk to the public at Merdeka 118.
Held at one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic landmarks, the bubur lambuk preparation took place just a few steps away fromMasjid Al-Sultan Abdullah, with distribution beginning after the Zuhur prayer. In total, 800 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed, reaching approximately 800 individuals from the surrounding communities and visitors to the Merdeka 118 precinct. The initiative, now in its 3rd year running reflects Merdeka 118’s strong connection with its neighbours fromaround the Merdeka 118 precinct.
Dato’ Ir. Ts. Izwan Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of PNBMV, said, “Bubur Lambuk Bersama Komuniti Merdeka 118 is a simple way for us to share a tradition many Malaysians love, while staying connected to the communities around Merdeka 118 in line with the broader Warisan KL approach that places people, heritage, and place at the heart of city-making. This tradition, held annually since 2024, reflects our commitment to ensure that development here continues to honour the area’s social and cultural fabric. Being on the ground today also gives me the opportunity to meet our neighbours. Stadium Merdeka has always been a place that brings people together, and we are glad to play our part through meaningful activities.”
Also present at the programme, Mohd Azmi Bin Zakaria, Chairman of Perumahan Awam (PA) Seri Sarawak Residents Association, said, “Every Ramadan, residents here really look forward to the bubur lambuk cooking experience and distribution. For many families, having something to bring home to break fast makes a difference, and it is genuinely appreciated. We thank PNBMV for continuing to show up for the community and hope this collaboration continues.”
The programme forms part of PNBMV’s broader community engagement efforts in and around the Merdeka 118 precinct, supporting initiatives that bring communities together,strengthen neighbourhood ties and create shared value over the long term. During Ramadan month, Stadium Merdeka remains active with a range of activities and bazaars, providing an accessible gathering space for the public. At the same time, Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah also holds iftar programmes during Ramadan, adding to the diverse and vibrant community offerings within the Merdeka 118 precinct.
Last year’s bubur lambuk activity marked the first time it was held at Stadium Merdeka, where PNB and PNBMV volunteers distributed 600 packs of bubur lambuk to the community after Friday prayers. The inaugural edition in 2024 distributed nearly 450 packs to residents of Perumahan Awam (PA) Seri Sarawak, PA Jalan Hang Tuah, PA Loke Yew, and PA Seri Selangor.
