IPOH, 8 DECEMBER 2025 – Batik Air today expands its domestic footprint with the launch of the new Ipoh–Singapore route, marking the Perak capital’s debut in the airline’s growing network.

This inaugural service not only opens a fresh gateway for travellers but also positions Ipoh as one of the most accessible heritage destinations for visitors from Singapore — Malaysia’s strongest tourism market.
Singapore remains Malaysia’s largest source of international visitors, with 14.0 million arrivals recorded from January to August 2025. This figure reflects a significant increase of 18.1% compared to the same period in 2024. This rising demand reflects a growing appetite for short-haul cultural escapes and weekend travel — making Ipoh an ideal new entry point.

Known for its charming Old Town, British colonial-era streetscapes, limestone hills, iconic caves, and a culinary scene celebrated across the region, Ipoh has emerged as a top choice for travellers seeking authentic experiences. With the introduction of direct flights from Singapore, visitors can now enjoy smoother, quicker access to one of Malaysia’s most atmospheric cities, while travellers from Perak benefit from a comfortable, seamless link to Singapore’s global hub.
Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said: “The Ipoh–Singapore service is a meaningful addition to our network, reflecting Batik Air’s commitment to connecting vibrant Malaysian cities with thriving regional markets. Singapore remains Malaysia’s largest source of visitors, and giving travellers a direct gateway into Ipoh creates new opportunities for tourism, business exchanges, and community growth.”

“This launch forms part of our broader strategy to strengthen national connectivity ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and to offer travellers more direct, convenient routes across Malaysia. By investing in routes like Ipoh–Singapore, Batik Air aims to support long-term tourism growth, stimulate regional development, and position Malaysia as a connected, future-ready destination in the heart of Southeast Asia,” he added Perak State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee YB Loh Sze Yee said that the Perak State Government warmly welcomes Batik Air’s inaugural Ipoh– Singapore service, which strengthens Ipoh’s international connectivity and reflects the airline’s confidence in Perak’s growing tourism potential. This new route will support our efforts to attract more visitors, boost local tourism, and create broader opportunities for business and community development.
“We look forward to continued collaboration with Batik Air and encourage the expansion of more direct international routes into Ipoh. Greater global connectivity will bring added convenience to Perakians, stimulate economic activity, and open new possibilities for Perak as a rising international destination,” he added.
YBrs. Mr. Samuel Lee, Deputy Director General Promotion (II) of Tourism Malaysia, welcomed the initiative, saying: “Singapore continues to be one of Malaysia’s strongest and most valuable short-haul markets. The introduction of this direct route to Ipoh provides Singaporean travelers with seamless access to Perak’s vibrant culture, rich heritage, and natural beauty. This new direct connectivity strengthens Malaysia’s tourism appeal and supports our goals for VM2026, where we aim to welcome 47 million international visitors and highlight the country’s diverse, world-class travel experiences.”
By opening doors to new destinations and strengthening ties across key tourism corridors, the airline remains focused on supporting Malaysia’s growth, amplifying regional mobility, and inspiring more travellers to explore the country ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
